My contributions to the American Red Cross of Greater Columbus blog were postings about pet safety, emergency preparedness and Red Cross services. My dog Cricket stood in as the face of my Cricket's Yips 'N Tips blog postings. Cricket was the most popular blogger for our Red Cross blog.
This newspaper article was written for a special wedding planning section. I used library books to familiarize myself with the newest wedding cake trends. With the help of a advertising salesperson, I contacted a local wedding cake designer who agreed to an interview. She provided some excellent tips that made the article timely and helpful.
Because it was difficult to obtain an high-quality photograph for the article, I offered the cake designer an opportunity to highlight her work on the cover. She provided a replica of a cake for a photo shoot. I oversaw the photo shoot in our conference room.
To prepare to write this newspaper article for a Spring Homes special section, I read articles on popular gardening Web sites. The special sections department sometimes had trouble finding good editorial pieces, so when I had extra time I helped out by writing articles.
In order to make a quality product for the advertisers and the readers, I thought it was important to use good articles in our special sections. It was interesting to utilize my writing skills on occasion.
The Race for the Cure special section was one section that required fresh, informative articles. I offered to write an article about different programs that received grant money from Race for the Cure.
I interviewed representatives from three central Ohio programs that received Race for the Cure grants. This section was one of our best.
As a volunteer for CHA Animal Shelter, I wrote this press release (for the development director) to publicize our annual Dog Jog fundraising event.
The shelter uses cartoon characters in its event logos. The article is written in a fun, light-hearted manner to reflect the family-friendly atmosphere of its events.
As a member of the CHA Animal Shelter communications committee, I work on a variety of projects. This press release was written one evening when the development director requested my help because there was a tight deadline for publication.
